Fatal Collision Shuts A616
A tragic crash on the A616 near Tankersley claimed the life of a 63-year-old woman this morning (Monday 13 November). Emergency services were called at 11:14am following a collision involving a HGV and a red Mitsubishi Outlander. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, the woman died at the scene.
Man Arrested Over Suspected Dangerous Driving
A 60-year-old man from Manchester has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He also faces charges related to driving while unfit through drink or drugs under Section 4 of the Road Traffic Offences.
Road Closed and Investigation Underway
The A616 remains closed between the A61 and M1 junctions as officers continue to investigate. The woman’s family has been informed and is receiving specialist support from Roads Policing Officers.
