A man has been arrested following a fatal collision with a pedestrian in Upham Road, Swindon, this evening.
At approximately 5:40 PM, Wiltshire Police responded to a report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at the junction of Upham Road and South View Avenue. Tragically, the pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 30s, has been arrested and taken into custody for questioning. Upham Road remains closed as investigations continue.
Detective Superintendent Charlotte Tucker stated, “This is a tragic incident where a man has lost his life in a collision with a vehicle, and our thoughts are with his family at this devastating time. I can reassure the public that a thorough investigation is now ongoing, and we have arrested a man in connection with the incident. You will see an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance to our communities while enquiries continue.
