Storm Babet Set to Slam Brechin with Floods and Fury
Brechin, the picturesque riverside town in north east Scotland, is on high alert as Storm Babet barrels in. A red weather warning, the Met Office’s highest caution, covers Brechin and nearby areas. Torrential rain and howling winds threaten to trigger severe flooding, forcing around 350 homes to evacuate.
Red Alert Hits Perth, Dundee, Angus and Beyond
The fierce warning spans Perth and Kinross, Dundee, Angus, and south Aberdeenshire. Storm Babet is forecast to wreak havoc from Thursday evening through Friday noon. Scotland’s deputy first minister Shona Robison has urged locals to stay put and avoid needless travel.
Angus Council Opens Emergency Shelters
- Rest centres opened at Brechin Community Campus, Montrose Sports Centre, and Forfar Community Campus from 3pm Thursday
- Residents are advised to bring sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, and medication
- Safe havens ready to support those displaced by floods
