Chaos hit Whitchurch Gardens, Canons Park, Edgware, on Monday evening, January 20, 2025, when a car overturned and smashed into a house. The terrifying incident unfolded just before 9 pm, sparking a major emergency response.

Fire Brigade and Police Rush to Scene

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) and Metropolitan Police arrived swiftly after reports came in around 8:50 pm. Residents shared images showing the area sealed off by police. Three fire engines from Stanmore and Mill Hill were dispatched to tackle the aftermath.

“Crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision with an overturned car that collided into a building on Whitchurch Gardens,” said a London Fire Brigade spokesperson.

“No one was trapped and no injuries reported. The scene was made safe, and the incident wrapped up by 9:20 pm.”

Driver Flees – Police Hunt Underway

Police confirmed they were called at 8:50 pm to respond to the crash. Officers helped the fire brigade, but the driver had already fled before police arrived. The investigation is ongoing.

“Police were called at 20:50hrs following reports of a collision. The driver left the scene prior to police arrival. Enquiries remain ongoing,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson revealed.

While thankfully no injuries occurred, the smash caused major disruption and raised fresh road safety fears in the community.
