Charity Scam Shocker on London Road
Two crafty females targeted a man near the A26 London Road and Rocks Hollow Gardens just before noon on Saturday, 12 March 2022. The pair approached as he stepped out of his car, waving pieces of paper claiming to raise funds for a hospital helping deaf or blind people.
Watch Snatched Then Dropped
While flashing the fake charity documents, one suspect grabbed the victim’s arm and tried to snatch his watch. She managed to take it briefly but dropped it when the man confronted them. Both then bolted, jumping into a white or silver VW driven off by a third accomplice.
Suspect Details Released
- Suspect One: White female, around 16, slim, five feet tall, dark clothes.
- Suspect Two: White female, about 20, broader build, similar height, short dark hair, dark clothes, face mask.
- Both spoke with Eastern European accents.
Police Warn Locals to Stay Sharp
Detective Inspector Jim Farley said: “These suspects may have targeted others in Tunbridge Wells. We urge anyone who’s seen suspicious behaviour to come forward. Please also watch out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours who could get unwanted visitors.”
