Dorset Police Dog Sniffs Out Olympic Security Role in Paris
Meet PD Jeff, a star police dog from Dorset, now on duty in Paris to help secure the Olympic Games. Alongside his handler, PC Hillier, Jeff is one of four top dogs from the South West of England deployed to France for the big event.
Top Dogs from Devon and Somerset Join the Mission
PD Roo from Devon, and PD EmmyLou and PD Hope from Avon and Somerset, have also been sent overseas. These four pooches are part of an enormous international security operation involving police and military teams from around the globe. Their task? To protect the Olympic Village and venues ahead of the 33rd Olympic Games kicking off on July 26.
PC Hillier said, “PD Jeff worked closely with the Gendarmerie, quickly becoming an integral part of their team. Despite the long days, he thrived, utilizing his remarkable sniffing abilities to the fullest.”

Heroes Honoured at British Embassy
Back in Paris, PD Jeff and his canine comrades received a special honour at the British Embassy. They met embassy staff and the Ambassador, who thanked them for proudly representing British police forces on the global stage.
PC Hillier reflected, “The experience was not only a tremendous honour but also an unforgettable opportunity to create lifelong memories, showcasing the best of Britain and Dorset Police. It’s quite an achievement, especially for a rescue dog like PD Jeff.”
Assistant Chief Constable Mark Callaghan added, “We were proud to support the security operation in advance of the Olympics and play our part in ensuring a safe and secure event on a world stage. Well done to all involved.”
