Thames Valley Police are hunting witnesses after a tragic crash claimed the life of a 44-year-old woman in Reading just before 12:45am on 21 October.
Fatal collision on Inner Distribution Road slip road
The woman was struck on the slip road between Castle Street and Oxford Road roundabouts by a white Range Rover. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed.
Man arrested over drug-driving suspicion
A 30-year-old Reading man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving while over the limit for a controlled drug. He has since been released under investigation as officers continue their inquiries.
Police seek crucial witnesses, especially taxi drivers
PC James Lovell from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Three Mile Cross urged: “I want to speak to anyone who saw the woman in the road before the crash, especially taxi drivers who may have stopped to talk to her just before the incident.”
The collision is not connected to an earlier fatal crash on Great Knolly’s Street the same night.
Road closures lifted, investigation ongoing
Roads were closed temporarily for the investigation but have now reopened. Anyone with information can contact Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting URN 66 21/10.
