Multiple Rail Lines Hit by Tragedy

Rail travel was thrown into turmoil late Sunday night after a person was hit by a train at Enfield Lock. Emergency services rushed to the scene, sparking widespread disruption across several key routes.

Key Routes Shut Down

Lines between Stratford and Hertford East, plus London liverpool/" title="Liverpool" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport, ground to a halt. The popular Stansted Express service also suffered delays and cancellations.

Official Statement from British Transport Police

Officers were called to Enfield Lock at 11:30pm on 19 March following reports of a casualty on the tracks,” a British Transport Police spokesman said. “Paramedics attended but, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Night of Disruption

  • Incident first reported by National Rail at 11:45pm.
  • All lines through Enfield Lock were temporarily closed whilst emergency crews worked.
  • Services between London Liverpool Street, Bishops Stortford, and Audley End affected.

Commuters were left stranded as services resumed only after the scene was cleared and investigations began.
