Huge Blaze Hits Rainham Industrial Units in the Early Hours
A massive fire tore through a vehicle repair workshop and nearby industrial units on New Road, Rainham, in the early hours today. The inferno quickly swallowed at least one unit and several vehicles, sparking a major emergency response.
70 Firefighters Battle Fierce Flames Through The Night
Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters rushed to the scene to knock down the flames and stop the fire spreading further. Despite the intense blaze, there have been no reported injuries so far.
Fire crews expect to stay on-site all night to fully extinguish the fire and carry out damping down operations. Meanwhile, New Road near Marsh Way is closed to traffic, and the public is urged to avoid the area.
Quick Response Gains Control Within An Hour
The 1 Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received about 15 calls about the fire, reflecting the scale of the incident. The first call came in at 12:38am, with firefighters bringing the fire under control by 1:55am.
Crews from Ilford, Wennington, Barking, and Hornchurch stations joined forces to tackle the blaze, showing a well-coordinated emergency response.
Investigation Underway As Authorities Monitor Safety
Police and firefighters are now investigating the cause of the fire. Officials remain on high alert, prioritising the safety of the local community as the clean-up continues.
