Fire crews from Ryde and Newport sprang into action in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a kitchen fire broke out in Ryde.
Stove Sparks Fire on Melville Street
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to a flat on Melville Street just before 5:30am. A box left on a hot stove caught fire, setting alight the small kitchen blaze.
Smoke Alarm Gives Early Warning
The property’s working smoke alarm alerted the owner, prompting a quick call to emergency services. Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using a hose reel.
No Injuries Reported
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident. Firefighters from Newport and Ryde arrived promptly at 5:21am to bring the situation under control.
The fire service confirmed the blaze started after the box was accidentally left on the stove, highlighting the dangers of leaving items on cooker tops.
