King’s Cross Blaze Sparks Urgent Candle Safety Warning
A candle left unattended has caused a house fire on Cubitt Street, King’s Cross, leaving half the first floor gutted last night.
A woman escaped before firefighters arrived but was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.
Firefighters Sound Alarm Over Candle Dangers
London Fire Brigade says the blaze was accidental and urges everyone to be ultra cautious with candles.
“Never leave candles unattended and keep them away from anything flammable such as curtains, furniture or clothes,” a spokesperson warned.
“Swap traditional candles for LED flameless ones—they’re far safer. But if you do use real candles, follow our simple safety tips.”
Swift Response From Fire Brigade
- The Brigade was called at 7.10pm, and by 8.03pm the fire was under control.
- Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Soho, Euston, and Islington stations rushed to the scene.
