Dramatic Rescue at London Nature Reserve as Woman Falls into Water
Quick-Thinking Firefighters Save the Day
Firefighters sprang into action after a woman fell from a bank into water at a London nature reserve. Using a three-piece extension ladder and throwline, they swiftly pulled her to safety. London Ambulance Service assessed her injuries on the spot.
Rescue Effort Guided by Locals and First Responders
Station Officer Imran Shah praised the quick guidance from bystanders. “As soon as we arrived at the nature reserve, we were directed exactly to where the woman was, which was invaluable,” he said. “Some people were already in the water with the woman, trying to save her.”
He also warned the public: “If you see someone in trouble in the water, call 999 immediately. Give an exact location and keep your eyes on the last spot you saw them. Don’t risk your life by jumping in after them.”
Rapid Response Cuts Rescue Time
Fire crews entered the water with a ladder to safely guide the woman back to shore. Luckily, she escaped without serious injury.
The Brigade was called at 3.06pm and wrapped up the rescue by 3.42pm. Three fire engines from Homerton and Stoke Newington and two rescue units from Bethnal Green and Edmonton raced to the scene.
