Police Probe 1960s Sex Abuse Claims at Former Lindfield School
Sussex Police Investigate Historical Allegations
Police are hunting for information on alleged sexual abuse at a now-closed Lindfield school. The accusations date back to 1962-1970, involving incidents at Tavistock and Summerhill School—then called Tavistock Hall.
No Arrests Yet, But Enquiries Intensify
Sussex Police confirm no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing, with officers urging anyone who attended during the 1960s or holds relevant details to come forward immediately.
Detective Constable Speaks Out
“This investigation is at a very early phase, although we are aware of several people we would like to speak to as part of our enquiries,” said Detective Constable Hannah Elmer.
“These incidents reportedly happened some 60 years ago, so there is no ongoing risk. However, a full and thorough investigation will be carried out to uncover the truth.”
“If you have any information, please report it online or call 101 quoting Operation Melford. It doesn’t matter how long ago it was—we believe you, we support you, and we will investigate fully.”
