Seven Dead as Torrential Rains Flood South Korea

South Korea is battling severe flooding after relentless heavy rain caused a dam to overflow, killing seven people and leaving three missing. Thousands have been forced to flee their homes amid warnings that the death toll could climb.

Widespread Flooding and Evacuations

Counties across the country have been submerged over the past three days. The situation worsened when the Goesan Dam in central South Korea began overflowing, flooding nearby low-lying villages. Authorities ordered more than 6,400 residents in Goesan County to evacuate immediately.

Landslides and Collapses Add to the Tragedy

The seven fatalities since Friday resulted from rain-triggered landslides and buildings collapsing. Two people remain missing after being swept away by floods in North Gyeongsang province, officials confirmed.
