Workers got an unexpected break on March 14, 2024, when a cherry picker suddenly packed up at around 11:02 AM on Brighton’s bustling Kings Road. The lift froze, leaving two people stranded 35 to 50 feet in the air, much to the amusement and surprise of passersby.
Firefighters Swing Into Action
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) wasted no time. “A cherry picker had stopped working, leaving two people about 35-50 feet in the air. We used our aerial ladder platform to reach them and bring them back to the ground,” they confirmed.
Safe and Sound After Sky-High Drama
Onlookers were treated to an impromptu aerial show as firefighters skillfully rescued the stuck workers. The pair touched down safely, turning a potential disaster into a local spectacle complete with cheers and chuckles.
