Flight tracking site FlightRadar24 caught Maryland State Police helicopters circling over the crash site. The Maryland Transportation Authority confirmed the 47-year-old bridge collapsed due to a “ship strike incident” and has been completely shut down.

“All lanes are closed in both directions for the incident on I-695 Key Bridge. Traffic is being detoured,” the Authority announced.
