Major Blaze Erupts at Longfield Recycling Centre – Over 20 Firefighters Battle Flames
More than 20 firefighters scrambled to a huge fire at the Pinden Recycling Centre in Longfield, near Dartford, late Sunday night. The alarm sounded at 11:19 PM when flames were spotted at the site off B260 Green Street.
Rapid Fire Crew Response
Six fire engines and a bulk water carrier rushed to the scene. Firefighters donned breathing apparatus and launched hose reel and main jets to tackle the blaze. The Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews quickly brought the flames under control and dampened down hotspots.
“Crews will revisit the site in the early hours of tomorrow morning (August 26) to ensure it remains safe,” a fire service spokesperson said.
No Injuries but Cause Unknown
Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the dramatic incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with officials yet to pinpoint what sparked the flames at the recycling centre.
