Flood Havoc Hits Littlehampton and Newhaven
Littlehampton is underwater as the River Arun bursts its banks, flooding areas around Rope Walk and Ferry Road. West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS) is leading the charge, battling floodwaters and helping stranded residents.
Fire Crews Race to Pump Out Water
Firefighters are working round the clock, pumping water from homes and businesses to reduce damage. A WSFRS spokesperson urged locals to stay indoors if it’s safe and move to upper floors to avoid rising waters.
If you’re in immediate danger, call 999 for the Fire and Rescue Service or Coastguard assistance,” said the spokesperson. “Please avoid flood zones so emergency teams can operate safely.”
Flooding Spreads to Newhaven
The flood crisis worsens as Newhaven’s West Quay is also submerged. Numerous vehicles on Denton Island have been swamped, showing how widespread the disaster has become across West Sussex.
