Kitchen Chaos: Firefighters Warn After Richmond Road Blaze
Unattended Air Fryer Sparks Kitchen Fire
Firefighters have issued a stark warning to kitchen users after a fire broke out on Richmond Road on February 14th. Crews rushed to a property where thick smoke was pouring from the kitchen. They found a small fire blazing on the hob – believed to have been caused by an air fryer accidentally turned on by a young child.
Doors Closed, Damage Limited
Thanks to quick action and closed doors, the blaze was contained to the kitchen. No one was injured, and the family escaped unharmed. Firefighters then toured nearby homes to dish out vital fire safety advice, urging locals to stay alert.
Smoke Alarms Save Lives
Station Manager Alastair Letchford stressed the need for working smoke alarms on every floor. “They alert you early to a fire, giving precious time to get out safe,” he said.
Letchford revealed more than half of accidental home fires start in kitchens. He begged everyone to stay vigilant when cooking and to never leave appliances unattended.
Quick Evacuation Can Save Lives
He finished with a vital reminder: if a fire breaks out, get out quickly, stay out, and call 999 immediately.
