Man Critically Injured After Being Hit by Train at London Cannon Street

A man is fighting for his life after being struck by a train at London Cannon Street underground station this afternoon. Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of the accident at around 3:20 pm.

Rapid Response from Emergency Crews

The London Ambulance Service’s hazardous area response team (HART), alongside ambulance crews and a paramedic in a fast response vehicle, arrived quickly. British Transport Police officers were also deployed to manage the chaotic scene.

The injured man was rushed to a major trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. His identity has not been released.

Station Closed, Commuters Hit by Major Delays

London Cannon Street station remains closed, with all train services suspended. The incident has caused significant disruption across multiple London Underground lines including the Circle, District, Hammersmith, and City lines.

Services are currently halted between key stations such as Whitechapel and Embankment, Aldgate and Edgware Road, and Liverpool Street and Barking, leaving thousands of commuters stranded during rush hour.

Authorities Urge Calm and Offer Support

A British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed: “Officers were called to Cannon Street underground station following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics attended the scene and the individual was subsequently taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.”

The London Ambulance Service added: “We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre.”

Authorities have urged anyone affected by the incident to seek emotional support from Samaritans by calling 116 123.
