Massive Fire Rips Through Derelict Kilburn Building
A huge blaze tore through a rundown building in Kilburn, northwest London, on the afternoon of 17 January 2025. Thick black smoke clouded the skies and sent nearby residents coughing as emergency crews raced to the scene.
Huge Emergency Response in Action
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) scrambled 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters from across the capital, including teams from Paddington and Chelsea. Firefighters faced a fierce inferno engulfing the entire ground floor of the three-storey former Job Centre on Coventry Close.
“The whole of the ground floor in the three-storey building is alight. Three people have been helped to safety by crews wearing breathing apparatus at the rear of the building.”
Terrified Locals Watch Smoke Billow
Dramatic snapshots flooding social media show thick plumes pouring from the graffiti-covered building. One witness said:
“The smoke was choking. People were rushing to get out of the area while the firefighters battled the flames.”
Evacuations and Warnings
Three people were safely rescued by crews dressed in breathing gear. Thankfully, there are no reports of injuries so far. The LFB urges locals to stay clear and keep windows and doors shut to avoid smoke inhalation.
Fire Cause Under Investigation
The cause of the blaze remains a mystery. Fire chiefs will launch a full probe once the site is secured. Anyone with info has been asked to come forward.
