Mother Speaks Out After Alleged Attempted Child Snatch Outside ALDI Portsmouth
A mother has bravely come forward following claims that a woman tried to snatch her child outside an ALDI in Portsmouth. Despite some social media users dismissing the incident, the mother confirms she’s reported it to Hampshire Police.
Incident Sparks Fury on Social Media
The shocking episode happened at lunchtime outside the ALDI on Gamble Road. According to the mother, while getting a trolley with her one-year-old daughter, a woman approached and tried to lure the toddler away. The mother challenged the stranger, who quickly left in a silver car.
“Some groups online are brushing off what happened,” said the mother, who asked to remain anonymous. “I’d suggest they stick to posting about lost dogs and keys, and stop spreading misinformation.”
Hampshire Police Confirm Investigation Underway
Hampshire Constabulary released a statement:
“We were called at 1.30pm on Monday 17 July to a suspicious incident outside Aldi on Gamble Road at around 12.25pm. A mother reported a woman spoke to her one-year-old daughter and appeared to beckon her. The mother challenged the woman, who then left in a silver car.”
The suspect was described as Pakistani, in her 40s, with a round build, wearing a nose ring and dressed in a dark blue sari and head dress.
“Officers have spoken with the mother and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting 44170274896.”
