A motorcyclist in his 20s has died following a three-vehicle collision on the A38 near Lee Mill in Devon. Emergency services were called at around 10am on Thursday, August 6, following reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle, a Ford Transit camper and an MG HS Trophy. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the motorcyclist, a man in his 20s from Plymouth, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A38 closed following fatal collision

The A38 was closed while officers carried out an investigation at the scene of the collision. Specialist officers from Devon and Cornwall Police’s Roads Policing Team are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with footage that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the crash. A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at around 10am on Thursday 6 August following a report of a collision involving a motorcycle, a Ford Transit camper and a MG HS Trophy. “Sadly, the motorcycle rider – a man in his 20s from Plymouth – was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been informed. “The road has been closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene.” Police also thanked motorists and members of the public for their patience while the road remained closed.

Police appeal for dashcam footage

Officers are particularly keen to obtain dashcam footage which may have captured the vehicles or the collision. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information or relevant footage is being urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police. Information can be provided to police online or by calling 101, quoting log 235 of August 6. The investigation into the circumstances of the fatal collision remains ongoing.
