Norwood Primary Faces Backlash Over Easter Celebrations

Norwood Primary & Pre-School in Eastleigh has hit back at a wave of backlash and online misinformation about its Easter celebrations. Headteacher Miss Stephanie Mander has issued a firm statement reassuring parents and the community about the school’s plans.

School Stands Firm on Easter Events

In a letter to parents, Miss Mander confirmed Norwood Primary will mark Easter just as it does other religious festivals: through Religious Education lessons, assemblies, and fun seasonal crafts. She described the misinformation swirling online as “unfounded” and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to celebrating diversity in a respectful and inclusive way.

Police Monitoring Amid Protest Fears

The school has thanked those supporting them during this storm but admitted concerns about potential protests. Norwood is working closely with police to ensure the safety of pupils and staff. Miss Mander stressed,

“All are safe in school, and we have robust safeguarding processes in place which are followed at all times.”

Parents Urged to Use Proper Channels

Miss Mander also called on parents to voice any concerns through official school channels rather than engaging with social media speculation. She said,

“We have clear and well-established channels in place which enable parents to raise any questions or matters they may wish to discuss. We continue to encourage parents to use and engage with these processes as the most direct and constructive route.”

Norwood’s proactive approach highlights its dedication to upholding community spirit while ensuring children’s welfare remains paramount amid growing public scrutiny.
