Tragic Fatal Crash on M6 Kills Couple from Derby
Police were called just after 4pm on August 12, 2021, following a horrific crash on the northbound M6 between junctions 32 and 33 involving a Mazda 3.
The driver, a man in his 30s, and a front-seat passenger, a woman in her 20s, both from Derby, were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency services were unable to save them.
Scene Shut Down as Investigators Probe Crash
The northbound carriageway was closed for hours while collision experts combed the site. The vehicle is believed to have left the carriageway and crashed into nearby woodland. Authorities say no other vehicles were involved.
Police Urge Witnesses and Dashcam Owners to Step Forward
Sgt Craig Booth of Lancashire Police Tactical Operations said:
“These are very sad and tragic circumstances, and my thoughts are with the couple’s loved ones at this time. We are continuing to investigate and would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to get in touch.”
