Man Found On Fire in Chessington – Police Launch Grim Investigation
The Met Police have launched a serious investigation after a man in his early 20s was found **on fire** in Chessington in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Emergency Services Rush to Disturbing Scene
At around 1am, police, fire, and paramedics were called to Barwell Lane following reports that a person was alight. A cordon was immediately set up as emergency teams battled to save the man.
Sadly, despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Missing Person Case Linked to Tragic Fire
Police sources revealed the man had been previously reported missing, and officers had been searching for him before the incident.
A Met Police spokesman said:
“Police were called at 11.11pm on Wednesday, 7 December, due to concerns for the welfare of a man reported missing from Chessington.
At around 01:00hrs, emergency services attended Barwell Lane.
The man, aged in his early 20s, was found deceased. His next of kin have been informed.
At this time, the death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.
A scene was in place and has since been closed.”

The police are still trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding the blaze. It is not yet clear whether the man acted alone or if others were involved.
