Irish police launch fresh appeal in chilling 1995 disappearance of Jo Jo Dullard

Vanished after a night out in Dublin

Irish authorities have reopened the hunt for Josephine “Jo Jo” Dullard, who mysteriously disappeared 29 years ago. The 21-year-old vanished after a night out in Dublin on November 9, 1995. Missing her bus to Kilkenny, Jo Jo took a bus to Naas, Co. Kildare, then planned to hitchhike the rest of the way home.

Her last known contact was a phone call at 11:37 p.m. from a phone box in Moone, Co. Kildare. Jo Jo told her friend that a car had stopped to offer her a lift. She was never heard from again.

Sister’s heart-wrenching plea after 29 years

Jo Jo’s sister, Kathleen Bergin, reported her missing the next morning. On the 29th anniversary of her disappearance, she said,

“That day she went to Dublin, our lives changed forever. She is out there somewhere, and we need to bring her home.”

Kathleen added that Jo Jo deserves to be laid to rest beside their parents, who passed away without knowing what happened.

Case upgraded to murder investigation

In 2020, Gardaí officially upgraded Jo Jo’s case to a murder inquiry. They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Specifically, they want to hear from:

  • Anyone who was at Bruxelles Bar in Dublin with Jo Jo on the night of November 9
  • Anyone who saw or spoke with her that evening
  • Anyone who has knowledge about a Sanyo Stereo cassette player (model MGP21) she was carrying
  • Anyone who picked up or encountered hitchhikers in the Moone area in late October or early November 1995

Garda vow to bring Jo Jo’s killer to justice

A Garda spokesperson said,

“An Garda Síochána is resolute in our determination to provide answers for Jo Jo’s family and bring her murderer to justice.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300, the Garda confidential line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station. Jo Jo’s family hold onto hope that someone will finally help them complete her journey home.
