A local hero has died in a devastating motorsport accident. Rob Foote, former Mayor of Epsom and dedicated volunteer marshal, was fatally injured while helping out at the famous Brands Hatch circuit.
Tragedy Strikes at Brands Hatch
The fatal crash happened on Saturday, 31st July at 3pm during a British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) Car Championship event. A car spun off the track, and amidst the chaos, Rob Foote was struck. Despite desperate efforts from medics, he succumbed to his injuries.
Beloved Local Figure and Skilled Engineer
Rob was much more than a motorsport marshal. A highly skilled engineer, he worked in the aircraft industry and as a motor vehicle technician. He represented Cuddington residents on Epsom & Ewell Borough Council for many years and served as Mayor in 2014/15.
Friends and constituents remember him for his dedication, having served on several council committees and helped countless locals with their concerns. Alongside his late wife, Rosemary, Rob launched the Epsom Buses Silver Service, a popular community initiative. Rob also raised significant funds for various charities and was known as a valued part-time driver for Epsom Coaches.
A Legacy of Kindness and Community Spirit
Rob’s generosity spread far and wide, volunteering his time freely, especially at motorsport events. His tragic death follows closely after the passing of his beloved wife, Rosemary, adding to the heartache.
