Royal Mail Slumps on Delivery Targets Amid Strikes
First-Class Mail Disaster
Royal Mail managed to deliver just 73.7% of first-class letters on time during the 2022-23 financial year. This abysmal figure comes despite the company enduring 18 days of frontline worker strikes.
Second-Class and Delivery Routes also Flop
Second-class mail fared little better, with only 90.7% arriving on schedule. Daily delivery routes were completed 89.35% of the time—far below expectations.
Far Short of Official Targets
- First-class mail target: 93% delivered within one working day
- Second-class mail target: 98.5% within three working days
- Delivery routes completion target: 99.9%
Royal Mail’s latest performance falls well short of these benchmarks, highlighting ongoing problems in the nation’s postal service.
