Fire Ravages Third Floor of London Maisonette
A blaze ripped through most of the third floor of a split-level maisonette, leaving the property heavily smoke-damaged. A man and woman managed to escape before firefighters arrived and were checked by London Ambulance Service crews at the scene.
Quick Response From Fire Brigade
Station Commander Emma Carr praised her team’s swift action. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control,” she said. Crews deployed a 32-metre turntable ladder to hunt for hidden hot spots in the roof.
Safety Measures and Road Closures
The maisonette was smoke-logged, and road closures were put in place while crews secured the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Fire Under Control Within an Hour
- The Brigade was called at 2.21pm and contained the fire by 3.31pm.
- Five fire stations responded: Shoreditch, Tottenham, Holloway, Stoke Newington, and Hornsey.
- The fire’s cause is currently under investigation.
