Jack Saunders Takes Over Radio 1’s Iconic Official Chart Show

The countdown is on! On September 9th, Jack Saunders will step into the hot seat, replacing Scott Mills as the new host of Radio 1’s Official Chart Show. Mills announced his departure earlier this month, paving the way for Jack to take charge of the UK’s top 40 best-selling and most streamed singles.

From Student Radio to Radio 1 Star

Jack’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. Starting out in student radio, he joined Radio 1 in 2018 and quickly became a key voice in the music scene, hosting shows like Radio 1’s Future Artists and Radio 1’s Indie Show. Notably, Jack was also a standout presenter during the BBC’s glastonbury/" title="Glastonbury" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Glastonbury 2022 coverage, cementing his status as a top tastemaker.

Following in Legendary Footsteps

Jack joins a long line of famed presenters including Jameela Jamil, Clara Amfo, Greg James, and Scott Mills. With the Official Singles Chart hitting its 70th anniversary this November, Jack has big shoes to fill.

“I can’t believe my name has been added to the endless list of legends who have presented The Official Chart,” Jack Saunders said. “To take over from an amazing broadcaster like Scott Mills is incredible. I can’t wait to get started and leave my mark.”

Industry Praise and High Hopes

Aled Haydn Jones, Head of BBC Radio 1, hailed Jack as “a fantastic presenter who has proven hugely popular with our listeners.” He added, “Fans of The Official Chart will undoubtedly enjoy his infectious energy and passion for music.”

Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company, also praised Jack: “He is a rising star of British radio with a meteoric rise at Radio 1. While Scott will be a tough act to follow, Jack will bring a fresh and exciting approach as the Official Singles Chart reaches its 70th anniversary.”
