Council rolls out £10 million electric van fleet to slash carbon emissions

Green Transformation Hits the Road

A £10 million overhaul is underway to refresh the council’s fleet with greener, more efficient vehicles. The bold plan will bring a breath of fresh air to the council’s operational services department.

Electric Vans Lead the Charge

The council is set to introduce 15 electric vans as part of this eco-friendly upgrade. On top of that, officials are eyeing low-carbon fuel options for the rest of their vehicles, aiming to clean up the entire fleet.

Cutting Carbon, Saving the Planet

Each new electric van will slash 1,450kg of CO2 every year. Once all vehicles are in action, that adds up to a whopping 21.75 tonnes of greenhouse gases wiped out annually.

Council Committed to a Cleaner Future

“We’re making a major investment in our fleet which will replace unreliable ageing vehicles and provide a better service to residents,” said Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for environment, climate change and operations. “We’re committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2038. With transport emissions a huge part of the problem, electric vehicles are key to our green transition.”
