What’s The Superloop? London’s New Express Bus Revolution

The Superloop is set to shake up outer London travel. This proposed network of limited-stop express buses will zoom in a giant loop around the capital. It aims to link key town centres, major stations, and transport hubs in outer London—making cross-borough journeys faster and easier.

Where Will The Superloop Take You?

The Superloop will connect outer London boroughs like never before. Transport for London (TfL) is working with local councils and the public to nail down the exact routes and stops. The plan includes upgrading existing bus routes and adding brand-new ones serving key locations all around the outskirts of London.

Why Is TfL Backing The Superloop?

Buses are London’s most affordable and eco-friendly way to get about. They’re the go-to alternative for journeys too long to walk or cycle but avoid the hassle of cars.

The Mayor has big plans: After expanding the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) city-wide in 2023, TfL is adding over a million kilometres to outer London’s bus network.

The Superloop is the next leap. Funded by the Mayor, City Hall, and TfL, it could add another 4 million kilometres of bus travel in outer London. That means easier trips to visit family, get to school, shop, or simply explore new areas—all without hopping in the car.

Together with other upgrades, these moves will cut car use and clean up London’s air, boosting outer London’s already solid bus network.

Backing The Mayor’s Vision For Outer London Transport

The Superloop joins other big transport upgrades across outer London, including expanding the bus network, rolling out the full Elizabeth line peak timetable, and introducing new trains on the DLR and Piccadilly lines.

Mayor Sadiq Khan unveiled the Superloop in 2023 to supercharge travel for millions living beyond the inner city.
