Blaze Rips Through Putney Home – Woman Hospitalised
Firefighters battled a fierce blaze at a Putney house late on Friday, with four fire engines and around 25 firefighters rushing to the scene on Schubert Road.
Second Floor Destroyed, Third Floor Damaged
The fire gutted the whole second floor of a mid-terraced property and caused heavy damage to half of the third floor. A woman escaped before the fire brigade arrived but was taken to hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.
Fridge Sparks Accidental Fire
The cause is believed to be accidental, linked to a fridge catching fire. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson warned:
“If your white goods start making a strange noise, don’t ignore it. If you think there’s a problem, always unplug it and contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair technician.”
“Most fires caused by white goods aren’t due to user error – so make sure you register your appliances. That way, manufacturers can alert you if any faults are discovered.”
Swift Response from Fire Crews
The Brigade was called at 9.47pm and had the fire under control by 11.05pm. Firefighters from Wandsworth, Battersea, and nearby stations tackled the blaze to prevent it spreading further.
