Thirteen Found Trapped in Freezer Lorry on M25 After Panic Calls
Thirteen people crammed inside a freezer lorry on the M25 have been detained for illegal entry. Dramatic panic calls to police from inside the freezing container claimed they couldn’t breathe and were trapped. The lorry was stopped by officers on a quiet estate in Chertsey, Surrey, this Tuesday afternoon.
Panic on the M25: Frozen and Trapped
Police pulled the freezer lorry over near Hillswood Drive after spotting it on the busy motorway. Multiple emergency crews, including a HART team and South East Coast Ambulance service, rushed to the scene just after 3pm. Initial reports suggested some inside the lorry were unresponsive, sparking a large-scale emergency response.
Thirteen Rescued and Checked Over
The group, consisting of 10 adults and three children, were quickly checked by paramedics and thankfully all are in good health. Three minors were taken into social services care, while the adults were detained and taken to Dover for further processing. Surrey Police confirmed the lorry driver is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Calls from Inside the Lorry
Police received multiple distress calls – one from the driver and another from a victim trapped inside the freezing hold. The people inside feared suffocation before help arrived. South East Coast Ambulance said the group is now in police care. The case will be handed over to UK Visas and Immigration.
More updates expected as the investigation continues.
