More than £70,000 Raised to Buy Xmas Toys for Vulnerable Kids
Generous Donations Brighten Up Children’s Christmas
In just six weeks, over £70,000 has been raised to buy toys for children from low-income families, foster care, residential homes, refuges, and hospitals. Staff from the Met Police, along with local councils and schools, handed out the gifts all through December to ensure kids had presents to open on Christmas Day.
Thanks From the Top
Rebecca Pritchard, lead for the Met 1 Tree Appeal, said: “On behalf of the Met, I want to thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who donated. You have made a child’s Christmas.”
It’s Not Too Late to Help
The appeal remains open until 31 December. All donations made after Christmas will go towards projects that offer practical and emotional support to vulnerable children in the new year.
Young Artists Grab the Met’s Attention
Earlier this week, Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley personally thanked three kids who created posters to promote the Christmas Tree Appeal at New Scotland Yard. The winners were:
- Angelique Bass, 7, from St Barnabas’ Church of England Primary School – overall winner
- Daniel Stonebridge, 10, from St Mary’s Church of England Primary in Southall – second place
- Michel Campana-Roman, 9, from St Vincent de Paul Catholic School in Westminster – third place
