UK Delays Key Conference on Conflict Sexual Violence
Lord Ahmad, the Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict, has announced a postponement of the crucial Time for Justice: Putting Survivors First conference.
UK Leads Global Fight Against Conflict Sexual Violence
“The UK remains at the forefront of the global efforts to tackle conflict-related sexual violence through our Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative (PSVI),” Lord Ahmad said. “We are committed to putting survivors and their needs at the heart of the international response.”
Coronavirus Outbreak Forces Tough Decision
Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the UK government has made the difficult call to delay the conference. Lord Ahmad reassured that the UK’s dedication to justice and accountability hasn’t wavered. Efforts to support survivors and address the root causes of sexual violence in conflict zones continue unabated.
Global Partnerships Remain Strong
“We will continue to collaborate with international partners, agencies, and civil society organisations globally,” Lord Ahmad stated. “New dates for the rescheduled conference will be confirmed soon.”
