ASDA Worker Heroically Saves Toddler Choking on Lollipop
A quick-thinking ASDA worker has been hailed a hero after saving a three-year-old girl choking on a lollipop in a Tiptree supermarket.
Grandmother’s Calm Action Averts Disaster
Sharon, a checkout colleague and trained first-aider at the ASDA Tiptree store, sprang into action when the toddler’s mother started to panic. Using her first-aid skills, Sharon calmly guided the mum to deliver sharp pats between the girl’s shoulder blades. After a few attempts, the little girl coughed up half the lollipop, averting a potential tragedy.
“After a few goes, the child coughed up half a lollipop, which was such a relief. I checked all her airways to make sure they were clear,” Sharon said. “She didn’t need an ambulance, I just gave her a drink of water. I’m just so grateful that the little girl was fine at the end of the day.”
ASDA Praises ‘Angel’ for Heroic Effort
Deputy store manager Brett praised Sharon for her quick thinking and compassion. “Not only did she save the child, but she also comforted her and her sister with a toy and water as they were shaken up. She is an absolute asset to the store and ridiculously modest and humble too.”
Brett added, “Sharon is an angel and the most amazing person.”
Fast Thinking Prevents Tragedy
The terrifying incident lasted mere seconds thanks to Sharon’s calm, swift intervention. Both the girl’s mother and the whole ASDA team have praised Sharon’s life-saving efforts, applauding her as a true everyday hero.
