A 34-year-old woman has been convicted of sexual assault after an unwanted hug, a grab, and a disturbing comment in Dartford, Kent.
She Grabbed a Man’s Crotch After Hugging Him
Taris Reeves first hugged the unnamed victim, then crossed the line by grabbing and rubbing his crotch. The court heard she followed this by whispering, “You can have this as well,” and kissed him on the neck – all over his clothes. Prosecutor Terry Knox told Medway Magistrates’ Court: “It was over clothing, and she kissed him on the side of the neck.”
Drunk and Off Her Medication
Reeves, who suffers from depression, had run out of her medication and had been heavily drinking on the night of the attack in January 2024. She claimed she couldn’t remember what happened. During the hearing, District Judge Stephen Leake had to tell Reeves to stop interrupting.
Sentenced to Community Order and Fined
Reeves was handed a 10-month community order, fined £200, and slapped with a restraining order. The judge said:
“The sexual assault happened when you touched him on his groin over clothing, and you said ‘you can have this as well’ and kissed him on the neck. He didn’t consent, and I have to sentence you over that.” “It’s clear to me you don’t have an understanding of boundaries. You have difficulty with conflict and approaching people. I’ve seen no remorse, and you don’t seem to understand the seriousness of the offence.” “However, you have no previous convictions and this was out of character.”
No Memory of the Incident
The court heard Reeves was unable to recall the incident. Images from the trial show a defiant woman as she faced the consequences of her actions.
