Teen Knife Gang Busted After Firework Chaos at Canada Water
Teen Thrown Knife Seized by Police
Police have cracked down after reports of teens throwing fireworks near Canada Water station. Officers from the Territorial Support Group (TSG) stepped up patrols all week, backing up local cops. On Tuesday 27 October, around 5:40pm, TSG cops spotted two suspicious teenage boys on Helena Street, SE16. When the lads tried to leg it, officers gave chase and caught up with them.
Knife Hidden Under Car Recovered
One 16-year-old was caught red-handed tossing a knife under a car. The weapon was recovered at the scene, and the youth was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
TSG Inspector Vows Tough Action
“The community of Rotherhithe reported alarming incidents of youngsters playing dangerously with fireworks in Canada Water,” said Inspector Lee Barnes of TSG. “This reckless behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Our unit was called in to reinforce local officers and maintain a strong presence.
“This arrest is a direct result of our efforts. I’m glad a potentially lethal knife has been removed from the streets. We’ll keep working with residents to crack down on weapon carriers and troublemakers.”
Boy Released Under Investigation
The 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. He was taken to a South London police station but has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
