Violent Assault Spurs Probe at Barnham Restaurant
Police have launched a fresh probe after a violent assault rocked The Passage to India restaurant in Barnham. The drama unfolded at around 10pm on Sunday, 19 May, in the heart of The Square.
Man Injured, Restaurant Damaged
A 64-year-old man suffered facial injuries during the attack. The restaurant itself also took a beating, sustaining noticeable damage in the incident.
Teen Girls Arrested Over Criminal Damage
Two teenage girls from Yapton, aged 14 and 15, were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage linked to the assault. Both have since been released on bail as inquiries continue.
Police Hunt for More Witnesses
Officers want to speak to anyone involved or who has information about the disturbance. Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
Chief Inspector Will Keating-Jones, Chichester and Arun District Commander, said: “This is an unacceptable and unprovoked attack. Those who go to work should not have to tolerate this behaviour and we are taking this report extremely seriously.
“An investigation is underway and we will hold those who are responsible accountable for their actions.
“We are aware of a post on social media showing the incident. I urge users not to speculate or share it and to report any evidence directly to Sussex Police.”
