Feltham Man Jailed for Life Over Gruesome Teddington Murder

William Kydd, 54, from Gabriel Close, Feltham, was found guilty of murdering 74-year-old Carole Harrison. The Old Bailey convicted him on Tuesday, 18 June. Yesterday, Friday 19 July, Kydd was slapped with a life sentence and must serve at least 30 years behind bars.

Fire and Fury: How Carole Harrison Met Her Tragic End

Emergency crews rushed to a blazing home in Mays Road, Teddington at around 1am on 21 August 2018. Inside, they discovered Carole Harrison’s lifeless body. The mother of five and retired nurse was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem revealed she died from smoke inhalation and a head injury.

Police concluded the fire was deliberately set. Carole, who had lived alone for 18 years since her husband’s passing, was brutally attacked before the blaze.

Scruffy Stranger Spotted with Victim

Detectives traced a man of scruffy appearance seen with Carole on the day she died. It was none other than William Kydd. He was arrested on 25 August 2018, but denied all involvement, staying silent during questioning and released on bail.

Smoke Screen Crumbles: Damning Evidence Seals Kydd’s Fate

  • Forensic experts proved the fire started in four different parts of the house.
  • Internal doors were deliberately closed — impossible for arthritic Carole.
  • CCTV caught Kydd leaving Carole’s home minutes before fire was reported.
  • He had easy access to ignition tools and the address on the fatal day.
  • Despite daily phone contact before, Kydd never called Carole post-murder and fled to another London area.

Re-arrested on 28 November 2018, Kydd was charged with murder the next day and held in custody. Justice has finally been served for Carole Harrison.
