Barrister Who Defended Nadine Dorries Set for Jail Over Drugs Charges

Henry Hendron, 41, a barrister known for representing Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries and Apprentice winner Stella English, now faces a jail sentence after pleading guilty to drug offences.

Drug Charges Rock Legal Eagle

Hendron, from Old Compton Street, London, admitted buying crystal meth and the party drug GBL. At Woolwich Crown Court on 17 March, he pleaded guilty to:

  • Three counts of Intentionally Encouraging or Assisting the Commission of an Offence
  • One count of Possessing a Class A Controlled Drug

The barrister was remanded in custody and is set to be sentenced on Wednesday, 19 April.

Undercover Investigation Uncovers Shocking Texts

The case unfolded after police arrested a man in 2021 on suspicion of dealing Class A, B, and C drugs. Forensic analysis of the man’s phone revealed texts from Hendron asking for drugs despite Hendron representing the man in his criminal case.

Further probes uncovered evidence from 2020 showing Hendron was buying drugs from another client he was supposed to defend.

Detective Inspector Slams ‘Unethical and Illegal’ Actions

Detective Inspector Lewis Sanderson, Specialist Crime South Syndicate, said: “At the time of his arrest Hendron was a serving barrister. The behaviour displayed by Hendron, while acting for the Bar, was unacceptable, unethical and illegal. Actions like his can tarnish the reputation of all those involved in the criminal justice system. The whole team were determined to bring him to account.”

“Thanks to our hard work and thorough investigation, Hendron now faces the consequences of his actions.”

Hendron was arrested on 3 May 2022 and charged soon after.
