Warning Issued to Drug Users in Swindon Following Series of Suspected Overdose Deaths

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with an incident in which a Wiltshire Police officer was injured after a car was reportedly deliberately driven at them.

A 20-year-old man from Trowbridge was arrested on suspicion of Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent, Causing Serious Injury by Dangerous Driving, and other driving offences. Additionally, a 22-year-old woman from Bristol was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

The arrests follow an incident on Saturday, June 1st, when an officer approached the occupants of a white Dacia Jogger Expression parked in a field in Conscience Lane, near Devizes. The vehicle collided with the officer, resulting in injuries that necessitated hospital treatment. Fortunately, the officer has since been discharged and is continuing their recovery at home.

Previously, a man in his 30s from Twerton, near Bath, was arrested in connection with the incident but has since been released without charge.

The vehicle believed to have been used in the assault has been located and seized by police.

Detective Inspector Steve Edwards emphasized the seriousness of the incident and the ongoing pace of the investigation, expressing gratitude for the public’s support in providing information.

Detectives continue to appeal for information regarding the incident. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact 101 and quote log number 383 of June 1.
