Swindon Police nab two after high-speed Vauxhall chase ends in smash
Pursuit Sparks Over “Over-Exuberant Driving”
Police tried to pull over a silver Vauxhall Insignia at 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, February 9, in Swindon. The driver’s reckless behaviour caught officers’ attention, described as “over-exuberant driving.”
Ignoring orders to stop after speeding off the M4 onto Great Western Way, the suspect sparked a high-speed chase. Officers quickly authorised a pursuit, with traffic units and a dog team joining the frenzy as the car swerved dangerously across lanes.
During the chase, police noticed the strong smell of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle.
Crash Brings Chase to Dramatic Halt at Gorse Hill Subway
The chase covered four miles before the silver Vauxhall careered into a bollard at the entrance to a subway on Tydeman Street, Gorse Hill.
Both the driver and passenger tried to make a run for it on foot but were swiftly caught by officers.
