At around 1:45 pm, emergency services responded to a report from the ambulance service that a man in his 30s had sustained a serious facial injury in an incident on Temple Street. The victim has been taken to hospital for treatment.

A cordon was put in place to allow for police investigations but has since been lifted.

Suspect and Victim Believed to Be Known to Each Other

Detective Sergeant Sarah Munday from Swindon CID reassured the public that the attack appears to be an isolated incident, with the suspect and victim believed to be known to one another.

“We appreciate the concern that this incident has caused within the community. However, please be reassured that the suspect and the victim are believed to be known to one another and this is thought to be an isolated incident,” DS Munday said.

“We are actively working to locate and arrest the suspect.”

“We know there were quite a few people in the vicinity when this incident took place, and there may have been witnesses who saw what happened,” DS Munday added.
