Two people were rushed to hospital this afternoon after a stabbing incident on a Transport for London (TfL) bus during an attempted phone robbery in Rushey Green, Catford (SE6).

Emergency services were called to the scene at 1.43pm following reports of a violent altercation on board the bus.

Attempted Robbery Turns Violent

According to early reports, the suspects attempted to steal a mobile phone from a male victim. A female passenger who tried to intervene was also injured — suffering a stab wound to her hand.

London Ambulance Service Response

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed:

“We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
Our first paramedic arrived on scene in less than three minutes.
We treated two people. One was taken to a major trauma centre as a priority, and the other to a local hospital.”

The extent of the victims’ injuries has not yet been disclosed, but neither is believed to be in a life-threatening condition at this stage.

Police Investigation Underway

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police has not yet issued a formal statement, but investigations are underway. It’s understood no arrests have yet been made, and detectives are reviewing CCTV footage from the bus and surrounding area.

Anyone who was on the bus or in the vicinity of Rushey Green at around 1.43pm today is urged to contact police on 101, quoting the relevant CAD number once issued. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
