Man Dies After Collapsing on Busy West Croydon Street

Police have launched a probe after a man tragically died in West Croydon on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency Rush to Scene

Officers and paramedics raced to Select supermarket on London Road around 11:35am after reports of a man collapsing in the street. Despite desperate efforts from medics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Major Police Response

St James’ Road was sealed off around noon as the emergency services swarmed the area. Witnesses reported at least four police cars and multiple ambulances attending the scene.

Police Treat Death as Unexplained

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 11:35am on Saturday, May 9 to reports of a man collapsed in London Road. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended but the man – no further details – was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained.”
