Moped Madness in London: 21-Year-Old Biker Busted After High-Speed Chase

High-Speed Pursuit Across London

A 21-year-old man was arrested following a thrilling moped chase that kicked off in west London’s King’s Road. Officers from the Met’s Operation Venice spotted a suspicious rider at around 5:15pm on Thursday, 23 April.

As solo motorbike officers closed in to stop him, the rider slammed the accelerator, blasting through a red light and sparking a police pursuit.

Chase Ends Safely on Brixton Road

With help from the National Police Air Service, the chase thundered over the iconic Albert Bridge before ending at 5:36pm with a low-speed tactical stop on Brixton Road.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, and no property was damaged during the high-octane episode.

Arrest and Charges

The rider was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, driving without a licence, and aggravated vehicle taking. He is now held in custody at a south London police station.

Strong Words from Police

PC Dan Hackett of Op Venice slammed the reckless rider: “This is yet another reminder for anyone thinking they can use London’s roads to get up to no good that Op Venice officers will see you, they will catch you, and you will be arrested.“Londoners can be assured that we are out here 24/7, working hard to keep them safe and take criminals off the roads.”
