Elderly Woman Hospitalised After Shocking Care Home Assault
Police stormed a Shaw care home at 2:40pm on Sunday following reports of a suspicious male on the premises. The discovery soon turned grim. An elderly woman was rushed to hospital after being seriously sexually assaulted and assaulted.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on the spot and is now in custody, facing intense questioning. Officers conducted thorough searches at the care home before closing the scene. All other residents are safe and receiving support.

“Specialist officers are currently supporting the victim and her loved ones at what is undoubtedly a difficult and distressing time,” said Superintendent Phillip Hutchinson of GMP’s Oldham district.
“We know this will hit residents, families, staff, and the wider community hard. That’s why we deployed uniformed and specialist officers to the scene and will keep patrolling the area to reassure everyone.”
Investigation Ongoing – Public Asked to Come Forward
Alongside the criminal probe, GMP is working with Oldham Council and partner agencies to boost safeguarding and security at the care home.
